Stranger Things: Why is it so Popular?
Introduction:
- Spoilers Ahead, if you don’t want to see spoilers, don’t read this article!!! Stranger Things is a tv show that has become very popular over the years, released on July 15th, 2016. This show was based off of Dungeons & Dragons; including monsters from the game such as the Demogorgan, The Mind Flayer, and Vecna (A lich)
The Stranger Things series combines genres like horror, sci-fi, and mystery. The show also takes place in the 1980s pop culture. Key elements include the friendship between the young characters, supernatural threats from an alternate dimension called the “Upside Down,” and a nostalgic homage to 1980s movies, music, and culture. The main characters are Will Byers, Michael Wheeler, Eleven (real name is Jane), Lucas Sinclair, Jim Hopper, Dustin Henderson, Joyce Byers, Robin Buckley, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, Eddie Munson, and Max Mayfield.

CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD! Many people have been talking about season 5 of Stranger Things, which came out with 4 episodes on November 26th, 2025 and will come out with more episodes on December 25th and then release the finale in theatres on December 31st. Recently, in season 5 throughout the first 4 episodes we are introduced to new characters: Derek Turnbow and Mr. Whatsit. Not only that but at the end of the first part we see that Will gains powers by tapping into the upside down’ hive mind. This channels him to Vecna’s abilities (Vecna is the antagonist of season 4-5) which gives Will telekinesis, control monsters, and feel psychic connections.
Season 5 Theories:
Many people believe different things will happen in Stranger Things season 5 and some have been confirmed! The first theory is that Vecna is actually Will’s biological father. Many people think this because he called Will by his real name (William) and has connected powers with Will. Not only that but more reasoning to back this up is that Will becomes a vessel for the Upside Down and how Will’s known father Lonnie, does not show much care for Will and Jonathan probably because he is not their real father. The second theory for Stranger Things season 5 has already been confirmed, that Holly Wheeler’s imaginary friend is Mr. Whatsit, (Vecna). This is because in episode one of the new season we see Holly talking to Mr. Whatsit. The final theory is highly talked about, and very reasonable. Many people believe that Steve Harrington or Will Byers is going to die in the new season.
This is because their storylines feel like they’re building toward major sacrifices for the final battle against Vecna. However, there is a small chance that Steve might not die due to the fact that Eddie’s arc exists. After what happened to Eddie Munson, killing Steve would literally traumatize Dustin, which could possibly lead to Dustin’s death (But this is a VERY small chance of happening).
Conclusion
Stranger Things has gotten super popular over the years and now they are ending off on New Years Eve in theaters. Many people will probably go with their friends and enjoy themselves, so it will be a great time for everybody! It is a great show with lots of suspense, if you have never watched it before then you should totally check it out on Netflix!
