Movies are one of the most popular things that people watch during the Christmas season, but have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes or before the movie was created? Well, this article will tell some little facts about classic Christmas movies that you may not have known.
Frosty The Snowman
The classic movie with the nice snowman, but it has many facts that might surprise you. Did you know that part of the movie was actually made in Japan? Some of the animation was done by the Mushi Studio, a Japanese animation studio. Another surprising thing about Frosty is there was a song long before the movie. The song “Frosty The Snowman” made by Jack Rollins and Steve Nelson was produced in 1950. It was made to pick up on the success that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer had.
Elf
The beloved Christmas comedy about an elf played by Will Ferrell, but Will was not the first pick. Originally, filmmakers wanted Jim Carrey to play Buddy. Eventually, they chose Will Ferrell to play the role. Also, Will Ferrell was a mall Santa for 5 weeks before Elf and SNL. The job gave him some more experience playing a Christmas character.
Home Alone
One of the most popular Christmas movies of all time, you might think that a lot of the parts were fake. You’d be wrong. In the moment where one of the robbers had a spider on his face, it was real! The actor had agreed for this to happen but only for one take. Something else is that the main character was based on the actor. Macaulay Culkin got the role for Kevin McCallister and the director changed the character’s writing just for Culkin.
All of these little details in these films might seem like they don’t add to the movie but they all make it what people love and appreciate to this day.
