Breakfast
Pumpkin Bread
Picture it; it’s the Morning of Thanksgiving, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is on, and all you can smell is the warm, doughy, delicious breakfast cooking in the kitchen. What you’re smelling is Pumpkin Bread! Pumpkin Bread is a quick bread, which means it is leavened with a chemical leaving agent rather than a biological one like yeast or a sourdough starter. This delicious dish is usually made with pumpkin puree and cooked in a bread loaf pan. To make this fall treat in cupcake form, it can also be put in a cupcake tray. Usually, many people add raisins or nuts into their pumpkin bread for extra flavor and smear cream cheese frosting on top. This can be made very easily by putting cream cheese and sugar into a food processor.

Biscuits
Most little kids’ favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal: the biscuits! Biscuits are usually baked pieces of moist, buttery bread paired with butter, jam, or gravy. You also don’t have to bake biscuits; many people choose to serve Hawaiian rolls instead of baked bread. Some even go the extra mile and bake them from scratch. Biscuits originated from Hardtack, which is a dense cracker so, what you would use to make Hardtack would be similar to what you use to bake biscuits, which is Baking powder ( this is because Biscuits are a quick bread; a bread that doesn’t use yeast as a leavening agent), lard, water, and flour.

The Main Meal
Ham/Turkey
These two meats have fought to be the animal that the American people eat every Thanksgiving. So which one is better? Ham is meat cut from the leg of a pig, and it is usually preserved by wet or dry curing. And some people choose to smoke or not smoke their ham. Processed ham on the other hand, includes whole cuts of meat and some mechanically formed. Now time for Turkey. Turkey is usually sold whole or sliced and ground. Turkeys are most of the time baked or roasted in an oven for several hours, and can be stuffed with poultry stuffing. Which one do you think is better, Turkey or Ham? Comment Below!

Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are usually smashed, boiled, or steamed potatoes. Many people add milk, butter, salt, and pepper into their potatoes to enhance the delicious flavor. Some even dip their mashed potatoes into Mustard or Barbecue Sauce. This is what you would do if you decided to make mashed potatoes from home, but most grocery stores also offer dehydrated instant mashed potatoes or frozen mashed potatoes.

Mac and Cheese
Macaroni and Cheese is a pasta noodle covered in cheddar cheese sauce. Some people choose to buy it from the store, add butter, and cook it on top of their stove, or buy frozen mac and cheese and bake it. But during Thanksgiving time, many people make it at home. If you choose this path, many people choose to use multiple cheeses, flour, spices such as ground cajun seasoning or ground nutmeg, herbs, pepper, salt, butter, and diced green onions.

Pies
Many people, for their Thanksgiving, chose to make and have a pie. Some of these pies include sweet potato, pecan, apple, or pumpkin. You can buy these from most grocery stores, but if you were to make them from home, this is how you would do it. To make sweet potato pie, many would put a filling into a pie crust that consists of mashed sweet potatoes, evaporated milk, sugar, and spices such as cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. To make apple pie, you would put a filling into a pie crust that consists of dried fresh or canned apples, butter, sugar, a thickener such as cornstarch, an acidic ingredient such as lemon juice to prevent the oxidation of the apples when you macerate the filling, and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Then, to make the filling for pumpkin pie, you would use pureed pumpkin, eggs, evaporated milk, and spices such as cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves or allspice. For the filling of pecan pie you would use pecans, sugar, eggs, and butter. For many of these pies, many pair them with marshmallows, ice cream, and whipped cream.
