TMS Top Picks- Favorite Halloween Movies
By Summer Caldarella
Halloween is coming up, bringing creepy costumes, haunted houses, and trick-or-treating with it. But people also love to curl up on the couch and watch some Halloween movies- which leads us to this article. I interviewed 19 7th and 8th graders here at TMS to see which of these four options they like the best for the spooky season.
In fourth place, we have Beetlejuice with one vote from Violet Walters. Even though it didn’t get many votes, it’s still one of my personal favorites. The plot revolves around a recently deceased couple trying to keep a new family out of their house, and while doing so they attract Beetlejuice, starting new problems for everyone. It’s a classic movie for this time of year.
In third comes Hocus Pocus with five votes from Eli Neisen, Claire Buensuceso, Jurnee Joseph, Emily Jacobs, and myself. It is about three kids waking 300 year old witches from the dead and having to set it right before sunrise. It is a movie that multiple generations came to know and love.
Coraline takes fourth place with 6 votes from Alexis Guerrero, Logan Villa, Maya Rekedal, Davis Lawsua, Jackie Diaz, and Brayden Prickett. The story is about a girl who discovers an alternate reality that seems infinitely better than hers, but discovers it’s evil and has to escape. It is a creepy classic that is universally loved by all ages.
Last but not least, we have The Nightmare Before Christmas in first place with eight votes from Andrew Tijerina, Bella Kennedy, Maverick Bane, Damian Olvera, Eliana Lira, Matthew Garcia, Lily Charyak, and Ava Gutiernez. About a skeleton who attempts to take over Christmas, this movie is the perfect example of a movie to watch at Halloween and Christmas.
There are so many great Halloween movies out there perfect for the holidays, and now you know some of the school’s favorites.
