While most people on Valentine’s Day enjoy a day out with their loved ones, lavish gifts from their valentine, and a sweet day celebrating love with their boyfriend or girlfriend, some of us would rather stay in and watch other people fall in love in the way we always wish for. Who needs a valentine when you can just turn on your tv and see Adam Sandler beg for the love of a woman with amnesia. That’s the dream. Here are some of the best romcoms, out of order, to watch when you need something other than a toxic man with a fistfull of flowers.

In the film Moonstruck, a woman named Loretta accepts the marriage proposal of her boyfriend Johnny. But she soon comes to discover that she has fallen madly in love with his brother, Ronny and tries to choose between true love and what’s right. It’s Cher and Nick Cage – what’s not to love?!

- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days:
A hot-shot advertising writer named Benjamin Barry bets with his coworkers that he can make a woman fall in love with him in just 10 days. Meanwhile the woman he has chosen for this challenge, Andie Anderson, is finding ways to lose a guy in 10 days.

- 10 Things I Hate About You:
Cameron, the new kid in high school, gains a crush on Bianca and wants to date her badly, but Bianca’s father will only allow her to date if her society-hating sister Kat does. With little hope, Cameron and his friend scheme a plan to get someone to pay Patrick, a mysterious boy with an intimidating reputation to date Kat so Cameron can go out with Bianca.

- 13 Going on 30:
An unpopular 13 year old girl’s only wish is to be cool. After a disaster at her 13th birthday party, Jenna Rink travels forward in time to when she’s 30 years old and living the life she’s always dreamt of. The only problem is that Matt, her best friend from when she was 13, is no longer speaking with her, so she goes on a mission to reconnect and reconcile with him as she figures out adulthood.

- The Proposal:
Margaret Tate is a talented business woman and New York editor, but she faces deportation from an expired visa. After convincing her assistant Andrew to marry her, she discovers many new things about him and herself as she visits his hometown.

- 27 Dresses:
“Always the bridesmaid, never the bride”, is something that Jane hears many times after being a bridesmaid 27 times. But the only thing she cares about most is her younger sister’s happiness, so when she gets engaged with Jane’s crush and boss, Jane has to go along with it. As she helps plan their wedding, she finds it difficult to put other people first before her, and the wedding photographer, Kevin, helps her understand that.

- Notting Hill:
William Thacker is an ordinary and common man in Notting Hill but his whole world is flipped upside down when a world famous actress stops on the doorstep of his bookstore. Anna Scott takes a liking to him, but walks away seemingly forever. No matter how hard he tries, William can’t get her out of his head.

- The Princess Bride:
Poor commonfolk Wesley and Buttercup’s love for each other is unmatched. But one day they are separated, and hope of seeing each other again is quite impossible. Buttercup is sent off to marry the king and Wesley remains hidden in the land, thought to be dead. When a mysterious man saves Buttercup from her capture, it’s given away to be Wesley, her long lost love, and they must find a way to stay together with the wedding coming to meet them soon.

- 50 First Dates:
One day, a charming and kind man named Henry Roth comes across the woman of his dreams, Lucy. They seem to get along well and hit it off great, but for some reason when they see each other again, she can’t seem to remember him. Henry, being determined to be with her, goes to Lucy’s family to find out that she has amnesia and spends each day believing that it’s the same day. Henry continues to help her fall in love with him, so every day he tries new ways to meet her, some ending badly, and others leaving him wishing she’ll remember it tomorrow.

- My Best Friend’s Wedding:
When Jullianne Potter gets an invitation to her best friend’s wedding, she tries to be happy at first, but that doesn’t last long. Michael O’Neal and her have been best friends for ages and promised earlier in life to marry one another. And although Julianne didn’t think she wanted to do that at first, hearing that he was wed to another girl made her jealous, and drove her to try and throw off the wedding.
