Although Valentine’s is about love, people can’t seem to stop doing things that end them up in jail. Many people try to do something nice on Valentine’s Day. It’s become a common thing to show how much you love someone on this holiday. But some of these acts are illegal, and the people who do those crimes get jail time or punished. From something as simple as stealing chocolate for a partner or running from the cops in the name of love, people stop at nothing to impress. So for all of you who like love stories and true crime, here are five funny Valentine’s crime stories.
1. A man got in trouble with the LA Traffic cops on Valentine’s Day for having both his hands off the wheel while driving. He was hugging his girlfriend with his right arm while signaling with his left. He lost control of the car but no one was injured. Though his story did end up in the news.
2. Multiple police stations in America and Canada have offered a special Valentines deal to get back people’s exes with active warrants! This deal includes perks like luxury transportation (police cars) and “special bracelets for special guests” (handcuffs). This bundle encourages people to turn in criminals when Valentine’s comes around! Some stations that have offered this deal are Bloomington PD, Brandon Police Service, New Haven, and Goodyear.
3. In February 2024, a cop dressed up a stuffed bear with flowers and a sign saying “You are my reason to smile” outside a drug dealer’s house in Peru. This Valentine’s gift lured the woman out of her house and she was arrested as they found over a thousand “packages” in her home.

4. Many people steal on Valentine’s Day as an act of love. But on Valentine’s Day in 2025, a man found himself in jail after trying to steal chocolate. When asked why he stole it he answered that he wanted to get something for his 55 year old mom but had no money.
5. A sweet Valentine’s date turns into a cop chase between a man and the Peachtree City police. The 20 year-old man was on the run from the cops and was in the middle of a date with a girlfriend when the cops found him. He fled from the scene and left his girlfriend in his car, who knew the protocols and listened to the cops. Once they learned she had nothing to do with his crimes, she was released and her now ex-boyfriend was sent to jail.
