DIY Christmas Crafts
The holiday season is a time for warmth, cheer, and a lot of decorations. Why not add some personal touches to the decor in your home? Here are three crafts to do this holiday season.
- Pom Pom Wreath
This one is great for hanging on a door for a little extra Christmas spirit. You will need:
- Yarn (however many colors you want)
- Foam wreath forms (you can also use cardboard in a wreath shape)
- Hot glue
- Ribbon and decorations (optional)
- Fork
- Scissors
First, wrap some yarn around the fork. Once you have a good amount of yarn, cut it with a length of yarn remaining. Take that remaining tail and wrap it around the middle, in between the prongs of the fork. Tie it tightly and cut the extra. Now remove it from the fork and use scissors to cut along all the folded pieces, leaving you with a fluffy pom pom! Repeat however many times necessary to fill the foam. Once you are done, glue the pom poms onto the foam wreath and you’re done! You can add ribbons and decorations at this stage if you want.
2. Snow Globe
If you want something small to put around the house, this one is perfect! You will need:
- Jar (with lid)
- Hot glue
- Glitter
- Small figurine or decoration for inside (waterproof)
- Glycerin or corn syrup (optional, makes glitter fall better)
The lid will be the bottom, so start with that. Glue the decoration on the bottom of the lid so it will be inside the jar. Make sure it is secure. Now fill the jar with cold water. Add the glitter and a few drops of glycerin/corn syrup now. You can now add the lid, screw it on tight and add glue to secure the bond. Flip it right side up and give it a shake. You’re done!
3. Gnome Ornament
This one is perfect for hanging on your tree. Materials you need are:
- Gray or white yarn
- Felt
- Buttons
- Wooden bead (for nose)
- Hot glue
- Scissors
Start with the yarn, cutting strips of about 6-8 inches each. Once you have enough of these to make a nice fluffy beard, gather them all together and tie a knot in the middle with another piece of yarn and fold in half, fluffy part at the bottom. Wrap the felt around the top and cut to size. Glue the felt to the yarn and add some buttons to the hat. Now glue the wooden bead in the middle as a small nose. Add a piece of yarn to the top in a loop and just like that, an adorable addition to the Christmas tree!
Christmas spirit is an important part of the holidays, and hopefully these crafts increase it around your house. Enjoy your holidays Bobcats!
