With all of the new staff and teachers in TMS, we get to know and learn about so many new people. Not only do the teachers learn about all of their students and their new school, we can hear a little bit about them! This year, there are so many new additions to the school, one of which being our very new choir teacher Ms. Caldera! Here to brighten up our days with music and laughter, Ms.Caldera is always there. Here are some fun facts about her!
-How long have you been teaching?
“Actually, 4 weeks… I student taught last year at Gardener middle school… but this is my first teaching job.”
-What do you like about Singing?
“I love to sing because my whole life I’ve been doing it. I started when I was little… my mom would play a lot of mama mia in the car so I would sing a lot of mama mia…it just feels like it’s an outlet for me to get things out and it’s so fun to do.”
-How long have you been doing theater or music-related work?
“…my whole I’ve been doing it…I started when I was about four years old”
-What are some of your favorite things to sing, or favorite genre?
“…I grew up a musical theatre kid. I sang a lot of musical theatre and that would probably be my all favorite to sing, like, Hamilton, all that kind of stuff…I also sing opera, I studied opera in college.”
-What do you hope to accomplish with your students this year?
“I hope to accomplish a lot with them. I feel like singing a lot of harmonies and adding a lot of our dynamics, tempos, just getting them to understand how music is actually sung…my main goal is to get everyone in the classroom confident enough to have their own singing voice”
-What do you like about TMS so far?
“TMS has been so fun. I feel like all the students, I’m getting to know them more and more each week, and they’re all becoming so like, getting to know their personalities and all the students…My favorite part would have to be the students.”
-What musicals or plays have you done?
“I was in ‘Little Mermaid’, I was ‘Ariel’. I was in ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ . I was Kim McAfee… And then I was also in ‘Annie’… so I was in those kinds of shows.”
Ms. Caldera is our wonderful new Choir teacher and TMS is so grateful for her! Overall she is kind, funny, polite, and very equipped for the role of a music teacher. Hopefully now you can say you know a lot about her and can appreciate her as a teacher.
