Short-formed videos are videos that are super quick and are located on platforms such as TikTok, YouTube shorts, Instagram reels, and Snapchat. Although they can be fun to watch, there can be a downside. How do they affect us? Watching these short-formed videos triggers dopamine in our brains which can be addictive. We can scroll constantly, which is bad for our brains, especially for teenagers. This can also shorten our attention span.
Another downside is while you may become addicted, it can also interfere with your daily routine such as having to do a chore because you could get distracted and completely forget about your responsibilities. If you get distracted you could get scolded by your parents which can lead to depression.
But how can you prevent stuff like this? To start simply you can cut your Youtube and TikTok usage down. Doing this can help you get less addicted and can improve your mental health. You can stay focused longer and increase your attention span.

This article was really short. Also, scolding from your parents about not doing a chore because you were watching short-form videos and getting depressed from it- that’s kind of specific and a bit of a stretch. Keep trying!
