Israel Retaliates: The Newest War The Worst Outcomes

On October 7th, disaster struck for many Israelites. Their city was filled with over 3,000 rockets. These were launched by Hamas, a terrorist organization group. This group has been trying to destroy Israel since 1988.  The attack was in response to constant humiliation suffered by the Palestinians, but many believe there may have been other, undeclared reasons. The prime minister said, “We are at war,” when 1400 people had died after the original attack. 

So What’s Israel Doing?

Many of their leaders and citizens have decided to invade Hamas. Their goal is to prevent Hamas from being able to do more attacks. Israel’s military has advised more than 1 million people to evacuate Gaza. They have also turned off all water, electricity, fuel, and food sources. As well, they have advanced technology that can destroy and target rockets before they cause damage. This technology deploys other rockets into the air and destroys Hamass. 

What Does This War Consist Of?

Hamas had been killing people at music festivals, doing chores, waiting for the bus, and trying to hide and evacuate. People have also been held hostage. Israeli citizens have been barricading their homes. Israel airstrikes destroyed 4 buildings in Gaza as the streets emptied into shelters. When an Israel hospital was bombed killing hundreds, both sides blamed each other.

U.S. Taking Action

Biden has decided to request an urgent budget from Congress to send help to Israel. The Egyptian president has allowed Biden to bring humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through their borders. When Biden was in Israel he said “When I was in Israel yesterday, I said that when America experienced the hell of 9/11, we felt enraged as well” He followed that statement with “While we sought and got justice, we made mistakes. So, I cautioned the government of Israel not to be blinded by rage.” While Biden has taken Israel’s side, he still believes that the Palestinian people are not to blame. The Hamas terror organization is at fault. Biden has sent aid and is militarily involved in helping Israel. 

This war will most likely produce large Palestinian casualties along with war crimes. It might also disrupt peaceful efforts in the Middle East.
