Should we be allowed on our phones?

Should we be allowed to go on our phones during lunch and break? Currently, we are not allowed to go on our phones at lunch or break; but why? The biggest reason is that the district wants us to be more social after a year of being away from people, which makes sense but having our phones is what keeps us connected whether it is through text or Snapchat. In this day and age, phones are a part of our everyday lives. We use them for almost everything from alarms to watching TV. I agree that we should not be on them all the time and we should socialize, but we can socialize and have our phones at the same time. Here are some students from Mrs. Van Der Voort’s pride class. They shared reasons they feel phones should be acceptable during lunch and break.

Many students say phones are ok because we are still social and it’s not during instruction time. As long as students follow the rules and guidelines there should be no reason why we can’t have our phones out during the break. I think we should be allowed phones when we are finished with our school work because computer games are boring and as long as you’re not invading peoples privacy and causing scenes I think that it should be allowed.

As this is my opinion, I cannot speak for everyone here. But, I do agree with this article. You can still be social while on a device, and I don’t think it would be much of a problem since teaching is not in session during these hours. Many opinions may differ, and I do feel strongly about this, but I do accept all opinions. That’s just the way I feel.

I think we should be on our phone at break because we can relax. If we come to school why are we bringing our phone if they would be in our backpack all day and not be able to use them.

This is a very good article about why we should be allowed to go on our phones. Brings up good reasons why it may be god to have our phones in school. Brings to mind how many things can be done with just a little computer.

I totally agree in this idea. We only get 1 break throughout the whole day, and lunch is only 30 minutes tops. Who knows if the mother of the person had an emergency at the house and wasn’t told that they had to contact the school first? We never know when a very urgent incident happened? i think we should be able to because my friend is moving and i wont be able to see her because shes moving to Texas and i dont have another way to contact her but in other words it think we should be able to. Nice job.
