Republicans Party
Donald Trump is the republican candidate with J.D. Vance as his vice president. Trump is 78 and was the 45th president of the U.S. He has a degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Even before Trump was involved in the government, he was a wealthy celebrity and landowner. J.D. Vance is 40 years old and is a politician, author, and marine veteran. He had served as the Junior Senator of Ohio since 2023. Politicians who have both previously run for president as democrats and now endorse Donald Trump are Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Republican Beliefs and Statistics
JD Vance has repeatedly talked about policies encouraging people to have a family, like raising the child tax credit to $5,000. He has also opposed government ideas of helping parents with childcare, arguing that children benefit from having a stay-at-home parent to care for them. Some statistics about Republicans are that they are generally older overall, about ⅔ of votes are over the age of 50. Also, about 80% of Republican voters identify themselves with a Christian religion.
Democratic Party
The Democratic party’s candidate is Kamala Harris, 59, and her running mate Tim Walz is 60. Kamala was originally running for Vice President with Joe Biden, but after Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Kamala was endorsed. Kamala has shown that she plans to build on Joe Biden’s administration. Tim Walz is an American politician, teacher, and retired Army officer. Since 2019 he has been the governor of Minnesota.
Democratic Statistics and Beliefs
Kamala is planning to take tax money and put it into making childcare and home care for the elderly more affordable. One fact about the Democratic party is that more than 44% of them are Hispanic, Black, Asian, or another race. Data has shown that Democrats support Harris stronger than they supported Biden, showing a bigger interest in Kamala.
Even though middle schoolers can’t vote, it’s still important for them to know their leaders. Make sure to tell your parent to vote this November 5th!
