Disney has had many different characters in their movies, from slimy green frogs to beautiful princesses. We all know Jasmine, Tiana, and Cinderella. But there is one princess that is going to make her way into the group. Let’s talk about who she is and more!
The new addition to these princesses is Asha, a 17-year-old girl who is Afro-Latina, in the Disney-produced film WISH! The movie takes place on the Iberian Peninsula in the Kingdom of Rosas. You will see Asha fighting for a better future for the kingdom as she notices something off about the king. She is played by talented voice actress, Ariana DeBose.
As always in Disney movies there is always a villain that needs to be defeated. In WISH we meet King Magnifico. Who is greedy and short-tempered and arrogant. His power is to grant the wishes of people in the kingdom. Magnifico doesn’t use his magic in a fair way though. He only grants certain wishes that would benefit him. This character is played by the amazing Chris Pine.
Now, we all know of the sidekicks every princess has. So, who is hers? Well, Asha’s sidekick in the movie is a goat named Valentino. Valentino is voiced by Alan Tudyk. But will Valentino be like most of the sidekicks, silent but funny, or will he be unique and have a voice of his own to share his thoughts? We will have to find out! You can see this movie in the theaters on November 22, 2023!
