Polar Express, Santa Claus, and Elf are all classic Christmas movies that we love. But there are others that some consider Christmas and some don’t. Well, here are some controversial Christmas (or not) movies!
Nightmare Before Christmas
The classic Disney movie is one of the most controversial! This is because it’s based in a town called Halloweentown, but it’s set during Christmas time. The basis of this movie is a skeleton, Jack, who is trying to become Santa Claus. This movie is perfect for Halloween and Christmas, but it’s always a fun debate about which season it better fits under!!

¨No, because it’s in Halloweentown ¨ (Makenna R.)
¨No because the main scene and characters are normally in Halloween ¨ (Gianna R.)
¨Yes, it’s in the name¨ (Olivia C.)
Die Hard
Die Hard is a great action movie, but is it Christmas? Many think so because it revolves around a Christmas party. This movie is about a New York City policeman, John McClane, visiting his family at a Christmas party. But the party is interrupted by a group of terrorists, and McClane realizes he has to save everyone.

¨Yes it’s in the wintertime or Christmas¨ (Gianna R.)
¨Yes because it occurs in a retail store¨ (Olivia C.)
Batman Returns
This 1992 Tim Burton movie is another controversial one. Some consider it a Christmas movie because of its Christmas setting and popular holiday music. Based on the comics, this movie is about Catwoman, who teams up with the Penguin and Shreck to destroy Batman, but things take a turn, and the action picks up!
