Who won?
Donald J. Trump, the Republican nominee, defeated his Democratic opponent, Kamala D. Harris. He was able to do this by winning all of the major swing states and securing the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election. Trump was supposed to face Former President Joe Biden in the elections, but he dropped out and endorsed Harris due to mounting pressure from democrats. This is because they believed that he was too old to win, being the oldest president at 82.

What went wrong for Harris?
First of all, the Democrats are saying Harris was unable to distinguish herself enough from Former President Joe Biden. Biden wasn’t that popular and had lower approval ratings across the board. As a result, Harris, being his vice president, suffered the consequences while running for president. If she had made more of an effort to distinguish herself from the former president, perhaps, she might have had a better chance at winning. She was also late in campaigning, as she was thrust into the race after Biden dropped out and endorsed her. Some people also say she focused too much on saying she is better than Trump and not pushing her message of ‘freedom’ and ‘not just to get by, but to get ahead.’
What are Trump’s Plans for the future?
Donald Trump took office on January 20th, 2025. He stated that he wanted to deport America’s illegal immigrants to secure our borders and try to make America more safe. Trump also wants to cut taxes for corporations and wealthier Americans. He wants to scrap taxes on tips, social security wages, and overtime wages. He plans to put 10 to 20% tariffs on all foreign goods, to make America more self-sufficient. Additionally, he plans to roll back LGBTQIA+ rights. He also plans to roll back spending on climate change.
