8th Grade Farewell

As this school year comes to an end, our 8th-grade class of the 22/23 school year will be leaving to go to high school and shall not be coming back. Although this school won’t be the same without them, they should get a great farewell.

The end of the school year is packed for these 8th-graders with Knotts Berry Farm, Awards night, and Promotion. And looking back on the 3 years, there has been so much that’s happened for them. So, here are some questions that were asked to the teachers and the students:

Question for the 8th-grade teachers:

What is something you’re going to miss about the 8th-grade class?

  • “Their charming personalities.” (Mr. Garrett)
  • “All the different personalities.” (Mr. Ruiz)
  • “I’m going to miss all the 8th-graders who say ‘gate break’. Anyone who wants to run to the gate.” (Mrs. Matus)
  • “I’m going to miss the youthfulness, I’m going to miss the energy level, I’m going to miss the real engagement in the lessons that a lot of kids had, I’m going to miss how there are so many kids that were really thoughtful, kind, and were quick to greet me in the morning. Those things meant a lot.” (Mr. Hinrichs)

What was your favorite moment with this class?

  • “My favorite memory was Tug of War in the P.E classes. The girls won in 3 classes, there was a tie in 1, and the boys won in the other.” (Mr. Garrett)
  • “Playing basketball with Mckayla Lee.” (Mr. Ruiz)
  • “I want to say it was something that Shane Wulfenstein did that was very funny. I can’t think of anything.” (Mrs. Matus)
  • My most favorite moment would probably be the tournament competitions we did during electric potential energy.” (Mr. Hinrichs)

What is the funniest thing that has happened with the 8th-grade class this year?

  • “When they clapped for me and I liked it. It wasn’t funny, but I liked it.” (Mr. Garrett)
  • “We created the funniest and also creative dating profiles for planets, stars, and satellite dishes.” (Mr. Ruiz)

The funniest thing that has happened in the 8th-grade class this year was when out at break, all of the 8th-graders chasing around is the funniest thing I saw. They don’t even realize they’re chasing each other.” (Mrs. Matus)
  • “The funniest thing that happened with the 8th-grade class this year was when my students would form alliances as they tried to beat other alliances in our science Kahoots. That was fun.” (Mr. Hinrichs)

Or do you know an 8th-grader that’s leaving this school? Tell us in the comments and make sure to congratulate any 8th-grader you may see or know!
