TMS Holiday Band Concert

You might be asking yourself, how did the bands do, what music did they play, who runs our band program, when and where were the concerts, and how can I sign up for the band? Well stick around and you’ll hear the answers!

What Songs Did The Band Perform, How Did They Do, And How To Sign Up For Band Next Year

All of our bands here at TMS play terrific songs beautifully, but here are the specific songs each band played. 

Jazz Band

Who runs our band program?

In Band, you are taught by a phenomenal teacher, Mr . Ivan Aviles. Mr Aviles has been teaching for eight years at TMS. Wow, that’s a long time!  During those eight years he has won multiple awards “the 2017 Esprit de Corps award (music in the parks Santa Cruz Boardwalk), 2018- Gold rating, Heritage Music Festival (San Francisco), 2022- Sweepstakes Middle School Band, Music in the Parks, and many more those are just a couple to list! But this year the Band program is gracious to have a student teacher Mr. Oscar Ramirez.  Mr. Ramirez is a student at San Diego State University (SDSU). Mr . Ramirez has done a great job of learning from Mr. Aviles and conducting and teaching the three bands Symphonic, Concert, and Beggiening.  And he will continue to help and be a part of the band program this semester and all through next semester! 

Where and When were the Concerts 

Even though the bands prepare for months to give us an amazing performance and perfect their songs, when were the band concerts? Well for all four bands the concerts were spread out over two days. Symphonic, Concert, and Beginning bands all had concerts during the school day for the select teachers and classes who showed up to prepare for the real concert. But Symphonic and Concert bands concerts were at SB at 7:15 pm in the MPR and CB: at 6:00 pm in the MPR on December 4th. The beginning band had a concert at 6:30 pm in the MPR on December 5th and the jazz band performed their concert shortly after them.
