Grit, Grace, Glow and Catastrophe

Grit, Grace, Glow and Catastrophe

When the school year started, the ASB invited us to celebrate by making the Grit, Grace, and Glow party after school! Kids were so excited, they painted their faces and their outfits were all neon. At the dance, TMS students were exploring the new, glowing world all set up in the MPR. Meeting their friends, dancing, challenging themselves in the obstacle course, and many other activities were planned out. But as the party went on pizza was everywhere, drinks were all over the place, kids were screaming so loudly that you couldn’t hear yourself and in the end, we all had to go outside in the sun.

We asked Mrs. Cardinale some questions about what she thought about the Grit, Grace, and Glow party.

Us: “What did you think was going to happen?”

Mrs. Cardinale: “I thought it was going to be a fun time for students to enjoy, to eat and drink and just have a fun time.”

Us: “What were some good things that happened?”

Mrs. Cardinale: “Well the obstacle course was a success and the food and drinks were a hit too.”

Us:” What were some bad things that happened?”

Mrs. Cardinale: “Honestly if you wanted me to, I could make a list of things that went wrong. The behavior of students was wild, there was free food waste, and in the middle of the party, the air conditioner was turned off.”

Us: “Did you have a good time?”

Mrs. Cardinale:  “No, to be honest.”

Us: “What would be some things that you would improve if you could go back in time?”

Mrs. Cardinale: “Well I would make it a smaller size, separate grades so they would be apart from each other, even though we had a lot of supervision we would need more. A cooler day so we could do more activities outside.”

Us: What more can we expect in October?”

Mrs. Cardinale: “Well, there is the fall carnival, student of the month for October, and Breast Cancer day when you wear pink.”

Hopefully, some kids did have a good time and the actions of some students who were acting inappropriately will not be an issue in the future.

What do you think? Do you think that the Grit Grace and Glow was worth it?
