Everyone knows iReady. It’s a district-wide site that helps strengthen language arts and math weaknesses. It used to require two lessons a week, but not anymore! Recently, the district changed the requirements. Here’s everything you need to know.
Policy Update
The district’s previous policy required two lessons per week, each lasting over 30 minutes. However, at the end of the semester, we learned about a change in this policy. The new change removes any minimum requirement, allowing teachers to make their own decisions regarding lesson requirements. Some teachers have chosen to eliminate these lessons altogether and have removed them from their grade books, while others have chosen to base them on diagnostic scores.
Pros and cons
iReady has many pros and cons, so what are they? One of the pros is that it can strengthen weaker subjects and concepts that adapt to your needs. There are also cons. Some of these are diagnostics, which can negatively affect some people who are not test takers. This means that they may be smarter than what is shown on the diagnostic, which involves the rest of your learning path for the semester.
Those are all the district updates, and then some. Do you like the change? Leave a comment!
