Fantasy football has been loved by people all over the world. It’s a fun and intense game where everyone picks players from different teams to create their own team. Once everyone has their own teams, the game begins. Whenever a player from one’s own team scores, that made up team earns a point. The goal is to be the team with the most points at the end. Doesn’t it sound fun? Well, some of our school’s teachers and staff definitely think so. Although there are many teachers and staff at our school who are a part of this fantasy football team, we are only going to be covering a couple of them.
But before tackling TMS’s fantasy football, let’s examine how Fantasy Football all started. It all began when the original investor of the Raiders gathered some of his friends in New York in 1962. He and his buddies created the original to today’s Fantasy football. They made rules and the website where this would take place. “Let the games begin!” The first league was titled, “Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League” or GOPPPL. It quickly became a popular game after Andy Mosliams (Bill’s friend and game creator), brought this game to a sports bar. It slowly began to spread to the country and even nationally! After all this, it spread to our school’s staff where Mrs. Rogers started the school league.
Interview with Mrs. Mcdonalds:
Why is Fantasy Football so great?
“I think it’s a way for friends to get together and have a friendly competition. Sometimes, we give each other a hard time and we laugh at one another, which is a case at our school. But, it’s a way for organisations to make connections with employees or family members and friends.”
Why did you get into fantasy football?
“I do it to have fun with friends. I do so because it’s a fun thing to do and the staff gets along so well. It’s another fun way for us to interact with one another.”
Do all the staff get together and play it?
“We do. We are friends outside of school and we even go on vacations with each other. I was number one last week but there is an excellent chance I won’t be it again and it’s okay and we all just laugh at each other.”
Interview with Mrs. Calverly:
What do you do as the commissioner of the fantasy football team?
“It’s easy. It’s all run through Yahoo so I don’t really do anything”
What is your biggest victory so far?
“I was the lead champion the second year we had it so my name is on the belt and I’m proud of it.”
What is the most unexpected outcome you’ve seen so far?
“Mrs. Daino was supposed to win every game but she lost both of the first games. I beat her last week and I think she lost again this week.”
What is your advice for people who are interested in joining fantasy football?
“It’s fun. Just get a group of people, at least 10 I’d say and try it out. It’s really fun.”
Interview with Mrs. Danio
How did you feel about last year’s win?
“I felt so good about that victory, because we have been playing for a lot of years on the belt. Probably 8 or so years and I have never won it before and there are a lot of men on this campus who are very interested in football and it felt really good to beat all those guys, and girls.”
As of this year, who is your biggest competition?
“Well, we are only 2 weeks in so you know, I lost my first game. It was Mrs. Calverly that beat me. She is our commissioner so she looks like she will be some competition. I would say Mr. Prokaiser likes to really mix it up with everybody. He might be the biggest competition just cus he talks the most. Everybody wants to beat him.”
Who were your top three players?
“Well, Christian McCafree is my top running back and kinda the top player in the league but he is the one that is out right now. And then Lemar Jackson is my quarterback two years in a row and then I pair him up with Jay Flowers who is his wide receiver for the Ravens. Then if
How superstitious are you when it comes to football?
“I am not very superstitious about it, I feel like if you put the right combination together hopefully it works. So it’s so much about superstition, it’s just about the skill and team you put together.”
Down below is the famous golden belt that Mrs. Daneo won last year. According to all the teachers, fantasy football is a fun and thrilling game to play. Unexpected outcomes, thrill, risk, it’s almost like an adventure! Now that we heard enough about their opinions on this game, are you going to give it a try?
